iouea was inspired by the overwhelming psychedelia of looking into someone’s eyes, the terror and comfort of the internet, the disintegration of my own understanding, and the capability computers have to design sound.

The name of the album is a word that signifies a taxonomic genus within the phylum Porifera — Cretaceous fossil sponges. The word is all vowels, and entirely unpronounceable.

iouea originally came out in benefit of Solidarity Across Borders along side over 200 other demos for Demo Fest on the 21st of December, 2020.
